Visual Arts

Visual art courses include Art 1, 2, and 3, and Advanced Placement Art.  Classes are designed to be taken consecutively beginning with basic artistic techniques and then expand to include technical skills, techniques, and conceptual thinking.  Students are introduced to art history, contemporary artists, and art processes in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art.  

Advanced Placement Art

In AP Art, students can select from 2D art and design , drawing, or 3D art and design.  Students develop the skills that artists and designers use, and create a portfolio of work that is assessed to produce their AP score.  

Photography

Photography 1 is a basic introductory course to photography.  Students learn about the history of photography and study various historical and contemporary photographers and processes.  Students also learn how to use digital SLR cameras and controls, including f/stops, shutter speeds, and aperture.  Skills taught include composition, criticism, lighting, and image editing software.
